AI Regulation Symposium on Friday, March 27, 2026

2026/03/27

The Legal Innovation Team headed by Professor Mihoko Sumida of the Hitosubashi Institute of Advanced Studies will co-host an AI Regulation Symposium on Friday, March 27, 2026. Experts from the United States, EU, UK, and Japan will examine the legal controls of AI. They will present presentations on the current situation, future prospects, and key points to consider when Japanese AI companies expand overseas.

This symposium will showcase the results of a survey on AI-related legal systems in major countries conducted in FY2025 through the “Next-Generation Artificial Intelligence Technology Research Center Formation Project”(次世代人工知能技術等研究開発拠点形成事業) undertaken by the Inter-University Research Institute Corporation, Research Organization of Information and Systems, titled “Establishing a Research and Development Center to Ensure Transparency and Reliability of Generative AI Models.”

The Legal Innovation Team at Hitotsubashi University’s Institute for Global Governance Research, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge Centre for Business Research, has delved into the current state of UK law, which is experiencing a severe crisis following Brexit. While the survey reflects the situation as of the end of November 2025, we plan to present new results acquired through the additional research done in January 2026.

We look forward to meeting you all there.
